Meet Active Claremont's Board members

John Scott - President, 2026 -
John and his family have resided in Claremont for the past 24 years. At Cal Poly Pomona University, he completed his studies in Plant Science at Cal Poly Pomona University. Recently retired, his earlier field work ranged from golf course construction and numerous new park projects to grains and orcharding research, and ultimately, he finalized his career as a Public Works Manager and Municipal Urban Forester. John was sold on Claremont’s infrastructure, safe neighborhoods and extensive tree canopy, all of which led purchasing a home to “put down” roots of his own in the “City of Trees”.
Vickie Noble - First Vice President
After becoming an Active Claremont member in 2024, Vickie Noble immediately began volunteering during our monthly trash-pickup along Baseline Ave and the on- and off-ramps to the 10 and 210. She also has been an invaluable help in making our monthly meetings a success, but wanted to do more. She joined Active Claremont's board in early 2025, and has continued to increase her contribution ever since, particularly creating extraordinarily creative and impactful flyers for our monthly meetings. Beyond Active Claremont, Vickie is a member of the Claremont Police Commission and participates in the Claremont Volunteer Patrol. She has a Degree in Finance from the California State University Long Beach, and has been self-employed as Real Estate Appraiser for 28 years. Additionally, she is active at Purpose Church, and is a Treasurer for both Claremont's Meals on Wheels and for Westarms HOA.
Jennifer Deal - Second Vice President
Jennifer Deal joined our board in 2025. She is an active and dedicated member of the Claremont community, committed to service, collaboration, and civic engagement. As 2nd Vice President of Active Claremont, she helps guide community initiatives, support membership growth, and strengthen connections between residents and local government. She also contributes to Claremont's City Planning and Preservation efforts through her involvement with the Architectural and Preservation Commission. She regularly participates in local events, forums, and volunteer projects. Through these many roles and activities, she strives to help Claremont remain an informed, vibrant, and welcoming community for all.
Joe Porreca
Having lived in Claremont and the surrounding communities since the age of four, Joseph is a native of the San Gabriel Valley and continues to work professionally in the area. Joe attended and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, Cum Laude, with an International Business and Marketing Degree with an emphasis in Marketing Management. As a current resident of Claremont, Joe is invested in helping his community by serving on Active Claremont's board. Joe has been involved with Active Claremont since 2020 and served as President of Active Claremont for three years and continues to serve on the board as a member at large.
Bill Buehler - Treasurer
Bill Buehler is one of Active Claremont's long-time members and a key board member. Bill has served with a long list of community organizations, including the Claremont Police, the Claremont Police Foundation, American Red Cross and the Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors. As a result of his community involvement and participation, Bill knows nearly everyone, and is essential in many facets of Active Claremont's pursuits, including organizing guests for our monthly speaker series.
Jon Hart
Jon is the longest tenured coach on the Claremont Sagehen staff and currently serves as the outside linebackers coach. He is one of the main drivers behind Active Claremont, and keeps the board on track and moving forward with the many tasks required to achieve Active Claremont's objectives, including membership, the mailing list, and preparing for/organizing appearances at Claremont events.
Daryl E. McCance
Daryl E. McCance has longstanding ties to the "Citrus Valley" communities, dating back to the late 1960's and 1970's, when he visited his neighboring City of Claremont on weekends. He established his primary residence in Claremont over 40 years ago, and has since been a long-term owner of both residential and commercial properties. The City of Claremont recently honored Daryl and his wife, Juliann McCance, for their many contributions to the community, including developing new condominiums in the Claremont Village (near Casa 425). Daryl is also a seasoned real estate and finance professional with a background spanning decades in high-level financial leadership and extraordinary community service, joined Active Claremont's board in 2025 He began his career with J.P. Morgan Chase's legacy companies, advancing to Vice President and National Project Manager, and later served as a Guided Portfolio Manager at Citigroup (New York). Today, Daryl is a Broker Associate with the Bayview Residential and holds a Doctorate in Business Administration and is licensed by the DRE and NMLS.
Tina Mayclin - Secretary
Tina has joined the board as secretary, and has become essential in keeping the rest of the board organized and productive, recording the monthly minutes, as well as helping to keep the members current with the latest happenings.
Russ Binder - Past President - 2024-25
Since moving to Claremont in 2007, Russ has increasingly participated in activities aimed at maintaining and improving the city, including serving as Chairperson for the Future Financial Opportunities Committee and currently as a member of the Community and Human Services Commission, and is on the Tree Committee. After joining Active Claremont and the board in 2023, Russ was appointed as President in 2024, He aims to participate and represent Active Claremont in our many events, pursuits and activiites, wants to elevate Active Claremont's effectiveness in the community, and encourages your suggestions on how to do so.
